What a way to kick off 2025! Mr & Mrs Dance’s wedding was my very first of the year – and if it's anything to go by, this wedding season is going to be incredible.

Every wedding I photograph is special in its own way, but some couples leave a little extra imprint on your heart – and Sarah & Jay are definitely one of those. From the moment I met them at their pre-wedding shoot, I knew their day would be something magical. These two are absolutely bonkers (in the best way!) – full of laughter, mischief, and a love so strong and playful, it’s contagious.

Their wedding day was held at the Newark Registry Office, which is tucked away in the stunning grounds of Newark Castle. Honestly, it’s hard to imagine a more romantic backdrop. The historic stonework and the lush greenery created the perfect setting for what turned out to be the most intimate and heartfelt ceremony.

The guest list was small – just their children – which made everything feel incredibly personal. Sarah’s daughter and son stood proudly by her side, with her son walking her down the aisle (cue the tears!). Jay’s daughter also stood with him, and together, their little family witnessed a moment that was truly all about love, connection, and togetherness.

The ceremony itself was filled with so much emotion – quiet smiles, held hands, and the kind of laughter that only comes when you’re marrying your best friend. It was raw and real, just like them.

Afterwards, we wandered the grounds of the castle for portraits, and it felt like we were stepping into a fairytale. Sarah and Jay were just glowing – dancing, giggling, sneaking kisses, and being unapologetically themselves. I couldn’t stop smiling behind the camera. These two don’t just love each other – they live their love, out loud and with joy.

I’m so grateful I got to be a part of their story. It’s couples like the Dances that remind me why I do what I do – to capture not just the moments, but the magic.

Here’s to the wild ones, the gigglers, the hopeless romantics – and to Mr & Mrs Dance. 💛

What was the best part of your day?

The best part of our day was seeing our close family at The Crown Hotel in Bawtry, where we had a meal after the ceremony and spent the evening celebrating together.

Why did you choose your wedding venue?

We wanted a beautiful but simple venue, neither of us are religious so needed a registry office as we wanted an very intimate wedding, so Newark was the perfect choice. Beautiful building in such lovely grounds of the castle ruins.

What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?

Cater for what YOU want not what others want or expect, its a celebration of your love!

Is there anything that you would have done differently?

No it was perfect, just small, intimate and completely wonderful! Might have booked an extra night at the hotel as we were shattered night of the wedding but otherwise nothing.
